The coaching

Sparks has taught athletes to coach themselves since 2010. The coaching works on two capacities every endurance athlete needs: the tolerance for discomfort and the awareness of effort. An athlete who understands both trains more intelligently and performs better for it. On an adult departure the head coach sets one approach for the week and every coach on the water teaches it the same way, so what you hear about your rowing is consistent. The week ends with three things to work on, written in your own words. Experienced high-performance coaches coach every departure. They come from national-team programs and from university and club programs that produce international rowers. The coaches on this page are the kind of people who coach Sparks adult weeks; the staff for your week is confirmed in your welcome packet.
